Natural Deodorant Alternatives
According to the American Cancer Society, 40,610 women will die of breast cancer this year. They state Breast Cancer is the most common cancer in American women other than the various types of skin cancer.
We apply chemicals to our armpits daily.
We use deodorant every day and some people even apply deodorant multiple times a day. If you’re using Dove, Secret, Old Spice, and even some of Tom’s deodorant, you are still using an aluminum-based deodorant and that is very scary… I understand that there’s a comfortability we have in staying with these commercial deodorants because “It’s the only thing that works for me.” They advertise these brands so much how could become aware that there are other options out there?
“Good Health Makes A Lot Of Sense, But It Doesn’t Make A Lot Of Dollars.” – Dr. Andrew Saul (Food Matters)
My problem with companies putting this toxic deodorant in our face as if it’s our only option is that it takes me back to how they are secretly killing us through our food. No, maybe the food doesn’t kill you today or tomorrow, but 10-20 years from now you will reap the medical bills and diseases from it. Then, guess who will eventually make more money off of you being in a vulnerable, medicine-dependent state rather than being healthy? Yup, you guessed it.
So, with that being said, our deodorant has this ingredient “Aluminum” that has been linked to breast cancer in women, prostate cancer in men, and increased risk of Alzheimer’s.
“Health is not valued until sickness comes.”- Thomas Fuller (Food Matters)
These are all things we see mostly as we get older. It’s sad to believe that we as a society view cancer as unpreventable and once we get around the age of 40 it’s not that we expect it, but it isn’t as shocking to hear a diagnosis of anymore because it has become so normalized. It’s because everything you put on your skin and in your body will either heal you or destroy you in due time.
A big problem with society now is that we simply don’t turn over our products anymore to read the ingredients, directions, or warnings. For example, a vast majority of deodorants say, “Do not use on broken skin.” There are many women who shave their arms almost directly before applying these deodorants. What we don’t realize is, when we shave we are actually shaving off hair AND a layer of skin. That in itself severely increases our risks of contracting breast cancer up to 20 years earlier. A lot less aluminum absorbs through your skin when there isn’t a layer of skin missing, so the amount that gets absorbed into your bloodstream after shaving is scary and should have a huge warning tag placed on the deodorant – similar to the Surgeon General’s warning on cigarettes.
Here’s a short story: My favorite aunt was diagnosed with DCIS Breast Cancer in 2014. She is fine now and has recovered after tons of chemo, radiation, etc.. We all know how that goes. After all of that treatment, guess what her doctors told her to do? FIND A NATURAL DEODORANT! The deodorant she was using was linked to causing breast cancer. I am so grateful for them giving her such great advice; however, WHY THE HELL ISN’T THIS ON A COMMERCIAL? If they are aware that 9/10 times it’s this product we call deodorant that may be the culprit of this cancer then why aren’t we taking this off shelves? Why do we have to wait until after cancer or any illness attacks us just to care about our health?
There are tons of other deodorant options out there. Again, read the ingredients, don’t just look at the label and assume it’s healthier or in any way safe for you if you haven’t checked the facts for yourself.
Tom’s is a major culprit. They’ve branded themselves like they are non-toxic and are a great alternative option, but as you can see, that’s just not the case. Some of their toothpaste even contains fluoride which is used as an insecticide and is also linked to a Low IQ and brain damage in babies. There’s so much more out there that can look like a safe option, but they simply aren’t. Researching and attaining the knowledge for yourself is so VITAL.
I would give you a list of all the natural deodorant brands I’ve tried over the last 3 years, but none of them compare to keeping it 100% Natural.

Apple Cider Vinegar
I know, some of you may think I have really lost my marbles. She’s too far gone into this hippy stuff, but I’m not crazy, I swear. Actually, after not using deodorant for a while I felt like my skin was able to detox from the different products I was using.
How to Apply
Lime/Lemon- Apply a slice of lime/lemon directly to the armpit and rub like its a stick of deodorant.
Apple Cider Vinegar- Apply shaken ACV directly to the armpit with a towel or pad.
It’s best when these are applied directly out of the shower. But not right after you shave, that juice and vinegar will give it a sting. However, It works fine for me any time of the day I apply it. I usually keep pre-cut limes in a container, but sometimes I forget to apply it to my armpits when I get downstairs. I always stop by a drive-thru and ask for a lemon slice. Limes/Lemons and ACV contain natural antibacterial compounds that kill odor-causing bacteria while leaving behind good and healthy bacteria.
Remember to add key lime to spring water daily to Alkalinize it.
You will reap many health benefits including killing odors and candida from the inside out!
